Jerome, AZ, October 27, 2018

Jerome, AZ is notoriously a hotbed for paranormal activity. As with many haunted towns, It is an old 19th Century copper mining town, with plenty of old, creepy buildings. It is set on Cleopatra Hill, near Sedona, AZ. It is a quaint, charming town with fantastic views of the surrounding scenic Arizona landscape. As a result, it was definitely on our list of must-see ghost hunting destinations. We decided to make a day of it; visit the charming shops and restaurants during the day, and embark on a ghost hunt tour at nightfall.

Ghost tour

We started the ghost tour at 7 pm and met at a central location in town. Our first stop was an old 2 story building that had been used as a hospital. We climbed some old creepy stairs to the second floor, which were severely dilapidated. I started out with the spirit box (a small radio-like device that scans different frequencies) using headphones. I did not receive any disembodied voices but felt a presence around me as I wandered off on my own, towards a dark corner. I felt compelled to take a photo. There was a solitary orb.

I felt like there was a male energy that was curious as to my activities. As I walked to different corners, I felt the presence curiously following me. I asked for a name and I received the name “Louis” on my iPhone app, ghost radar. (one of the best ghost hunting devices I have used, that is simple and free on the app store). I did not receive any further information regarding Louis but felt that he had at one time occupied or been attached to that location. I did not feel any negative vibrations from him.

Jerome High School

The second spot that we visited was the closed-down Jerome High School, which had been closed down since 1951. This building was by far the creepiest place that we visited that night. As we walked in, I felt a plethora of different types of energy coming from multiple spirits. At the previous location, the school was seriously run-down. We had to watch our step the whole way to avoid any injury. When we entered the gymnasium, I felt negative and positive energy and felt as if many eyes were watching us. My partner stopped briefly with a troubled look on her face. I could tell that she was not enjoying the moment. She stated that she had felt a deeply negative energy move through her as she entered the room. Over the years, I have learned to trust her intuition, since she is very sensitive physically to paranormal energies. She told me to keep myself guarded and be very careful. Needless to say, we took many photos of that room, with astounding results. (Insert photo with many orbs-DSCF8497.JPG).

I then entered the boy’s locker room and felt compelled to take another photo. I was thrilled to capture a moving orb that moved with such purpose and direction, I felt it was either a young spirit or a negative one. It moved towards my camera, from around the corner of the line of lockers and then changed direction dramatically to the left, going around the corner. Because of its intentional movement, we debunked the idea of it being dust or dirt.

We descended the rickety staircase and went into a foreboding basement. At that moment, I felt surrounded by negative energies. I was drawn to the boiler room, which was pitch dark and extremely dusty. I took many photos, capturing many orbs again. I personally felt something extremely evil had occurred in that room. Our guide later told us they used to put the dead bodies in the incinerator and a baby had once died there. DSCF8493.JPG-(insert pic). Although we had captured some compelling photographic evidence, we were relieved to leave the building.

Our last stop was the old Jerome graveyard. The first set of gravestones yielded no activity. However, a photo I took later revealed a disturbing face near a grave. (Show creepy face photoDSCF8545.JPG)

I was working the spirit box again and came to a bigger, more elaborate gravestone with the name of a prominent female engraved. My friend and I started to ask questions regarding the name and immediately received validation with a name on my ghost radar app. The following conversation yielded the idea that she was very important to Jerome when she was alive and had been some type of actress. I had the impression, guided by the spirit box, that she was unhappy with the state of her gravestone and her place in the graveyard. She was a very strong-willed and active spirit indeed. (DSCF8544.JPG show a single orb by the grave).

We ended the tour very satisfied with our results and experience. As an aspiring ghost hunter, I would definitely recommend old town, Jerome, AZ to anyone looking for paranormal adventure.
